St. Mary Parish acknowledges the need for inclusion of all persons by providing facilities and accessibility for handicapped individuals and by sponsoring a parish site for the SPRED program.
SPRED (Special Religious EDducation) is an agency of the Archdiocese. It is a unique program designed for persons with physical and developmental disabilities. The programs helps individuals with special needs to know God, grow in faith, and prepare for full participation in the sacramental life of the parish.
Through collaboration with neighboring parishes, a person can continue with SPRED from six years old through adulthood in nearby parishes.
Each participating parish focuses on a particular age group in the following categories:
- Children: ages 6-10
- Teenagers: ages 11-16
- Young People: ages 17-21
- Adults 22 years and older
St. Mary Parish is an active member of this organization serving the Teen 11-16 year old age group.
If you know of an individual in St. Mary Parish that would benefit from this program, please contact Mary Anne Walke by phone at (708) 447-7831 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
