Mr. Gross

I hope this brief introduction letter finds you well as another school year has begun for the wonderful students of St. Mary School! I am very excited to be returning to St. Mary School as the Computer Literacy and Technology instructor. I am extremely blessed to be given this opportunity once again.

This is my sixth year at St. Mary School and we have made huge strides in implementing technology inside the classrooms as well as integrating technology into our overall curriculum.  It is very exciting to coordinate these efforts with Mrs. Rasinski in order to ensure that technology-based tools are purchased and implemented in the most effective and beneficial means to the students' education.

This past school year and Summer was quite exciting as I earned recognition for St. Mary School to be recognized for its third consecutive year as a Digital Citizenship Certified School through Common Sense Media.  Additionally, I was honored to be named a “Sphero Hero” amongst only 18 educators in the entire World! This educational ambassador program provided new professional opportunities for me and recognized my efforts for regularly implementing the use of robotics as a valuable teaching tool.  This has been an amazing experience especially that it gave me the opportunity to present at the 2018 ISTE (International Society of Technology in Education) Conference! This was a HUGE honor!

I would like to thank you for allowing me the opportunity to instruct your child (or children) throughout the 2018-2019 school year. I am very excited about this year thus far and I will continue to do my best to teach your child about the safe, responsible and educational use of computer/mobile-device and Internet-based technology. Many grade levels will further explore online resources and tools such as Google Apps for Education (GSuite), which will work as a companion tool supporting cross-curricular research studies within the appropriate grade level curriculum.

The use of computer and Internet technology will aid independent skills growth in conjunction with the International Standards for Technology in Education (ISTE), National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) & Common Core State Standards (CCSS) as well as introductory exploration to the STEM initiative. STEM places an emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.  It is my goal to create and integrate age-appropriate learning strategies to assist in the development of an engaging, interactive educational environment empowering the students to explore deeper learning. Whether it be learning proper keyboarding skills or programming with Sphero Robotics, each child will have the opportunity to establish and further develop essential skills in this continuously advancing 21st century.

This is a very exciting time for St. Mary School because of the commitment the faculty has made to explore the promising future of technology’s increasing role in education and I’m excited to help further implement that initiative.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at ggross@stmaryriverside.org and I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible.
