Degrees and Certifications:
Peace and greetings! My name is John Tuzim and I am so blessed to be the Junior-High Religion teacher at St. Mary School! I strongly believe that studying our faith helps us to grow closer to God, and this is exactly what the students and I will be doing in class together!
In the sixth grade, our focus will be on the Old Testament, studying the stories that lay the foundation for our Catholic faith, especially those that point to Jesus in the New Testament. Seventh graders will be looking more closely at the New Testament, the Gospels specifically, and discovering through them how we are called to live as disciples of Christ. In the eighth grade, we study the history of the Catholic Church, culminating in the study of the modern Church and the students’ role within it as newly-Confirmed Catholics.
Studying our faith is a special passion of mine; I received my undergraduate degree in Theology from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and I am currently working towards a Master’s degree in Catholic Studies from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. I now look forward to working with the wonderful students, families, and staff of St. Mary School! This community is truly a special place, and I am honored to be a part of it! Please feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you ever have any questions or concerns that I can help you with!
